Beyond R: Rule Ripper (Demo)
A downloadable game for Windows
Welcome to the Golden Jack
A death game of 10 rules assigned to each of the 10 players, a mysterious bar, and 10 hours to live. You can only disobey your own rule. If you die, your rule is removed from the game, until only 3 remain. An evolving game that changes with every death.
But he won’t allow it.
Refusing to play into the hands of his kidnapper, one player challenges the game itself.
Search for what’s beyond and overcome the system, or be eaten by it. But don’t forget...that you are no hero.
- A death game visual novel where your main goal isn’t to win, survive, or find the truth, but to defy the game itself, the fate that you’ve been given.
- Ten characters, each hiding one of the rules of the game alongside their pasts. Only by learning more about them will you uncover their rules and understand them as people, but will you pity them or...?
- Search for clues hidden throughout the Golden Jack bar, complete your hourly objectives, and face the other players at the end of each hour in the Council, where tragedy lurks behind each word and your survival depends on where you decide to intervene and what to say.
- More than 20 different endings to explore, with several paths to take.
This is a demo for a game in development.

I am unable to proceed after the part where it tells you to open the barman to read the rules. No menu pops up on the barman for me, and clicking the screen does not advance the text.
That version of the demo hadn't been updated since August, as I was waiting for the Steam demo release. I didn't know there was such a serious bug, though. Just updated it to the latest version, which includes some changes that haven't been announced yet. Thanks for checking it out and the feedback!
I downloaded the demo again and am still having the same issue. I even tried replaying from the beginning in case my save file was the problem, and I still get stuck in the exact same place.
...I also tried the "Beyond Drunk" game to see if that would be any different, and I CAN progress past that spot there because the barman menu does display properly in that game.
My bad, I assumed it was an old bug. I've made sure it's fixed now and it's now updated.
As an apology, I've included a new song that was just finished yesterday. Won't share it publicly until the end of the month, so it's a demo exclusive till then.
At the beginning where someone says "it's on their hands" I'm pretty sure it's supposed to say it's in their hands"
That's correct, somehow we missed that. Thanks!
Ah, thanks for the feedback! Though in this case it's fine, the character uses a bunch of languages and part of the joke is how she isn't quite right at some of them. Not that I know Russian myself either, I just used Google, so when I wrote that one I knew that there was a chance it could be just for temperature, but that would just make it funnier if someone happened to catch it, which...seems it paid off?
Really intrigued so far!
Think I stumbled upon a bug (after checking out all areas but the bar - last checked was the Lime/Gin area - I couldn’t seem to progress to check the last area), but I am already pretty hooked by the story.
(One minor correction: I think you used lied sometimes when you meant lay.)
Best of luck! Looking forward to how this game develops!
Yes, that seemed to be a pretty common bug, but the demo has been updated to fix it. And thanks for the feedback!
